Stories We Tell: Lives in Exiles (2024) | Short Documentary Series | Creator/Series Producer/Director/Camera

Stories We Tell is a documentary web series that offers a window into the lives of Burmese exiles living abroad. Through this series, we hope to amplify their
voices and illuminate the often-overlooked stories of resilience, courage, and hope in the face of adversity.

This project is particularly close to my heart as I built it from the ground up, handling everything from logo design and branding to filming, interviewing, and
editing. Although I take on the majority of the work, I also collaborate with friends who assist in identifying contributors to film. This is also my first project with
complete creative control over the entire storytelling process. Our first episode launched on June 1st, and our first full video on Facebook garnered over 1 million
views in its first month.

Rebuilding Lives (2024) | Short Documentary |

Editor/Co-Writer

This documentary follows the journey of two Chin families, living on the India-
Myanmar border, who fled Thantlang after the Burmese junta burned their
town.

I edited and co-wrote this film, leading the entire post-production process
where the story is constructed. Although I didn't direct the film, I was
responsible for shaping the narrative, from developing the script from
transcripts to the final cut. This was my first project solely as an editor, as I
typically take on multiple roles, including directing and shooting, in previous
projects.

DOCUMENTARY

Acting for Justice (2018) | Short Documentary | FXB Myanmar|
Producer/Director/Camera

This observational documentary follows a theatre troupe as they engage
with communities to raise awareness about social justice and the rule of
law through their performances.

After leaving BBC Media Action, this was the first client project I led from
pitch deck to final cut. I directed and shot the film, adopting an
observational approach to let the troupe tell their stories in their own
words, capturing the authentic impact of their work.

SHORT FILM

Make Migration Work (2018) | Short Film Series | IOMX Myanmar| Series Director/Producer/Writer/Editor

The "Make Migration Work" short film series, which I directed, produced, and wrote, offers a documentary-style glimpse into the lives of Burmese migrant
workers. Through intimate storytelling, it explores their challenges and resilience, providing viewers with an authentic portrayal of the migrant experience.

As a debut project in my role as series producer and director, we aimed to capture the migrants' authentic stories. Our writing team, led by me, crafted these
narratives based on real interviews, blending fiction with reality to create a series that resonates with authenticity and highlights the human side of migration.

TELEVISION PSA

BRACED PSAs (2016 - 2017)| Video Series | BBC Media Action
| Director/Camera/Editor

As part of the BRACED project, this short video series features eight resilient
women from rural Myanmar. Airing on MRTV, these PSAs highlight their
inspiring efforts in preparing for natural disasters, empowering viewers with
their personal strategies.

This was my first project as a director after three years in the industry. I also
handled the shooting and editing, bringing the women's powerful stories to
life.

This three-part short video series, created to raise awareness about fake
news on social media before Myanmar’s 2020 general election, combined
mythological elements with contemporary issues. In each episode, the main
character encounters legendary figures like a hell boy, a thief, and
characters from the Ramayana, who intervene to stop the spread of
misinformation.

As director, I led the production, managing costumes, sets, and visual
effects on a limited budget. The project was a rewarding collaboration with
BBC Media Action, two years after leaving my full-time role there. It
showcased my ability to balance creative storytelling with practical
production challenges.

Phwar Chaw & Phoe Lone (2021) | Animation Video Series | Save the Children | Producer/Director/Writer/Editor

Join Phwar Chaw and her grandson, Phone Lone, in this animated video series. Through Phwar Chaw's invaluable wisdom, the series offers profound
insights into nurturing mental well-being amid the challenges of political unrest in the country. Created in response to the 2021 coup, when most people,
especially children, faced significant mental health challenges, this series aims to provide much-needed support and guidance.

I directed and co-wrote scripts for this animation, collaborating with Save the Children. Despite personal challenges post-coup, it was fulfilling to contribute
to mental health support through this project.
